The Music Video Masterclass Tour.

Making a great music video isn't out of reach — the process just hasn't been made simple. Over two days, with a live artist on stage and a full RED package in your hands, you shoot, light, cut and grade a real one from scratch. You walk out with the craft to create a career making exceptional content that reaches all across the globe.

01 · What this is

Make it simple to make it great.

Most creators drown in the how — the gear, the workflow, the fifty tutorials that never quite connect — so they make more, smaller things, and none of them land. Over two days we strip the whole pipeline back to something simple: pre-production, a live shoot on a full RED package, then the edit and colour in DaVinci Resolve. One clear path, idea to finished music video — the one the artist actually releases. You stop guessing. You start making the few things people actually remember.

02 · What you walk away with

The whole pipeline.

PRE-PRODUCTION

Treatment, shotlist, schedule

How a video gets locked before the camera opens.

  • Treatment and references that sell the idea
  • Shotlist mapped to a live performance
  • A schedule that survives the day
LIGHTING

Building a cinematic rig live

The plot built in front of you, artist on stage.

  • One shaped key beats six flat sources
  • Reading the venue, controlling spill
  • Mood that still reads after the grade
CAMERA

RED Komodo X & V-Raptor

Full RED builds in your hands, not on a shelf.

  • Exposure, false colour, on-set monitoring
  • Lens choice for movement and compression
  • Run on the floor with RED APAC
POST

Edit & colour in DaVinci Resolve

Cut to the track. Graded to ship.

  • Editing to music and performance
  • A look that holds on EIZO reference monitors
  • Sound, finishing, delivery

You don't need to own it to shoot on it.

You've been told you need a RED you can't afford and a colour suite you'll never build before your work can look cinematic. Not here. The real gear is in your hands from hour one — working cinema cameras, reference-grade monitors, the same tools you'd spec on a paying job. No borrowed kit, no demo behind glass. The gear was never the thing holding you back.

Colour & monitoring

EIZO ColorEdge reference monitors on the grade — hardware-calibrated and colour-accurate, so the look you build in Resolve is the look that ships. The step most people skip, made simple.

03 · The tour

Four cities. Four artists. Four music videos.

You've done the courses that hand you a PDF and a fake brief, then leave you exactly where you started. Not this. Four cities, four live artists, four real music videos — each one shot, cut, graded and released by the artist, with your name in the credits. Every city runs the same two-day shape: a workshop day with the artist, then Day Two post-production in DaVinci Resolve. Both days, one ticket — Day Two included free.

RED Digital Cinema · Demystified

RED isn't hard. It's just been badly explained.

You've heard the horror stories — files too big to move, footage that won't play, a workstation you can't afford just to open a clip. We bust every one. Hands on Komodo X and V-Raptor with RED APAC, you'll see how simple it actually is.

REDCODE RAW is compressed — a 6K clip often runs smaller than the same shot in high-end ProRes, and you set the file size. It drops straight into DaVinci Resolve and edits natively — no proxies, no transcoding, no in-between step — and the RAW gives you room to fix exposure and colour after the shoot. We take the fear out of it.

  • Files aren't huge — REDCODE RAW is compressed, and you set the size
  • No proxies, no transcoding — R3D edits natively in DaVinci Resolve
  • RAW isn't risky — fix exposure and colour after the shoot
  • Hands-on with RED APAC — included in every ticket

Day Two · Post, demystified

Post isn't the hard part. And the best tool for it is free.

You've been told post is where projects go to die — a subscription you resent, timelines that choke, RED footage your editor "can't open." None of that here. Day Two is the whole finish — edit, colour, sound and delivery — taught in DaVinci Resolve.

Resolve is free to download and the smoothest thing going for editing R3D natively. No proxies, no transcoding, no monthly fee. The RAW drops straight onto the timeline and gives you room to fix exposure and colour. You walk out able to finish your own films, start to end.

  • DaVinci Resolve is free — download it, keep it, no subscription
  • Edits R3D natively — the smoothest post workflow for RED
  • Edit, colour, sound and delivery — the full Day Two finish
  • Walk out able to finish your own films, start to end
05 · Pricing

One price. Everything in it.

Both days in one ticket — the live shoot, hands-on RED training, and the full post masterclass in DaVinci Resolve. Day Two's included free. One price for the lot, and you walk away credited on a music video the artist actually releases. You walk out with the craft to create a career making exceptional content that reaches all across the globe.

Just 25 seats per city. Prices in AUD, GST inclusive.

06 · Who it's for

Filmmakers who already shoot. Who want to shoot bigger.

You're shooting on Sony or Canon and your work is good — but you know it could be cinema. You're tired of guessing on set and hoping it comes together in post. This is the jump: RED workflow, real production, music-video pacing. Hobbyists welcome — the day moves at working-pro speed.

PRIMARY

Independent filmmakers and music video directors

You're already shooting, but you've hit the ceiling of your kit and your process. Here you step up the camera, the lighting and the way you run a set — and walk out with a cinematic workflow you can use on Monday's job.

SECONDARY

Senior film school students and emerging DPs

You've got the theory, but not the reel, the credits or the client. Here you get hands on a full RED package, a released music video for your reel, and direct time with directors who actually work.

TERTIARY

New to filmmaking and content creation

You're just starting, and it all feels like too much — where to begin, what gear, how the pieces fit together. Here you make a real music video from start to finish on pro gear in two days, so you leave with something finished and a process you can actually follow.

07 · Who's running it

Working directors. Not full-time educators.

Peter John
PRODUCER / DIRECTOR

Peter John

Daniel Kelaart

08 · Questions

The ones we hear most.

How do I book, and when are venues announced?

Tickets are on sale now — book your city above. Venues are revealed July 13; we'll email the address and full run sheet then. 25 seats per city, first-come.

Do I need to own a RED to be here?

No. The whole point is putting working RED bodies in the hands of people who've never run one. Komodo X and V-Raptor packages are on the floor — you'll get hands-on time regardless of what you shoot on day-to-day.

What do I need to bring?

A laptop with DaVinci Resolve installed (free version is fine), a fast SSD if you want to walk out with the footage, and a notebook. Cameras, lights, audio and grip are all supplied in the room.

Is Day Two included?

Yes. It's one ticket for both days — Day Two, the post-production masterclass in DaVinci Resolve, is included free. There's nothing separate to book.

Will the footage we shoot be released?

Yes — each city's music video gets released by the artist after the tour. You'll get credited as part of the crew on the videos shot in your city.

Is the livestream a substitute for being there?

No. The Sydney livestream gets you the talking-head, panel and shoot-block content via CreativeLive. It does not get you hands on a RED, time in the colour seat, or the room with the artist. If you can be in a city, be in a city.

What's the refund policy?

Full refund up to 10 days before your city's date. Inside 10 days, tickets are transferable to a mate but not refundable. We try to be human about genuine emergencies — email us.
